Monday.com was founded by Eran Zinman and Roy Mann in 2012 and the company raised $1.5 million in seed funding.

Formerly known as daPulse, the product was commercially launched in 2014. Monday.com is a customisable web and mobile work management platform, designed for helping teams track projects and workflows and also help them with operational efficiency.

Sometime in June 2016, Monday.com announced the closing of $7.6 million in a series A round led by Genesis Partners, in participation from existing backer Entrée Capital.

The company also raised $25 million in April 2017 which was led by New York-based firm, Insight Venture Partners with participation from existing Series A investors Genesis Partners and Entrée Capital.

In November 2017, the company changed its brand name from daPulse to Monday.com.

Getting Started with Monday.com

1. On Monday’s homepage, click on Get Started at the top of the page.

2. If you have an account with Monday, select continue with Google. For a first-timer, input your company email and click on Continue.

3. Create your account by inputting your full name, password and account name. Then click continues.  

4. Answer the questions to help you personalize your account.

5. You can invite your teammates immediately by inputting their email addresses and assigning them Admin or Member roles or you can do that later.

As you create your account, you have a 14-day free trial.

Pricing Plan

Monday has 4 pricing plans and it differs in team size. For a team size of 3, here’s the pricing plan:

a. Basic

The Basic plan goes for $10 per seat/month and when billed monthly; it goes for $30 monthly. The Basic plan comes with Unlimited boards, Unlimited items, Unlimited free viewers, iOS and Android apps, 20+ templates, and the eligibility to create a dashboard based on 1 board and over 20 column types.

b. Standard

The Standard plan is the most popular plan and it goes for $12 per seat/month and when it’s billed monthly, it goes for $36.

The Standard plan comes with everything in the Basic plan including Guest access, Integrations (250 actions per month), Calendar view, Timeline and Gantt views, and the ability to create a dashboard that combines 5 boards.

c. The Pro Plan

Goes for $20 per seat/month and when billed monthly, it goes for $60 per month. the Pro plan comes with everything in the Standard plan including the Formula column, chart view, the ability to create a dashboard that combines 10 boards, automation, time tracking, chart view and private boards, integrations (25,000 actions per month), automation (25,000)

d. Enterprise Plan

This plan is for teams, organisations and businesses that want to maximise growth and scale fast. To have a pricing plan, you need to contact Monday’s sales team.

This plan comes with everything in the Pro plan including tailored onboarding, premium support, advanced reporting & analytics, multi-level permissions, enterprise-scale automation & Integration, premium support, and the ability to create a dashboard that combines 50 boards, enterprise-grade security and governance.

How Monday’s Dashboard Works   

1. The Home option gives you an overview and quick access to your recent boards, inbox and workspaces. You can do a quick search, explore templates and get inspired by clicking some tips.

2. The My Work option lets you see all your assigned tasks here.

3. The Bell icon at the top of the dashboard is for notifications.

4. The Inbox option lets you catch up on updates and messages either from teammates or your boards.

5. The Invite option is to invite other colleagues via their email addresses.

6. The puzzle option is for your apps. You can search the marketplace to browse various categories to create and customise your workflow.

7. The Search option lets you search anything and everything.

8. The Question mark option is for help and support.

Features of Monday

1. Campaign/Workload Creation

This feature is a hub or board that houses all your personal or assigned tasks.

How It Works

On your dashboard under Main Workspace, click on the + icon right in front of the search tab and click on New Board. Name your board, choose a privacy mode and what you’re managing in the board and click on Create Board.

You click on New Campaign to create a new campaign or go to any of the Group Title tables and choose any item. Hover on any item you want to work on and click on Open. Edit the title, write an update, add files and a few mentions and then click on Update. Scroll down to either like an update or comment and to also see the number of views.

All edits are done on the Update section, click on the Files section to either add files or search for files. The activity log section lets you see your activity and assignment. Your activity section can be exported to Excel.

You update your company’s status by clicking on the status label and selecting your current status. You can add more status labels.

2. Dashboard  

Monday’s dashboard helps facilitate your task/project workflows and helps you display all your important prompts in one place.

How It Works

Click on the + icon beside the search bar under Main Workspace and click on New Dashboard. Name your dashboard, add a privacy mode and click on Create Dashboard. You are presented with an option to connect any of your boards to your new dashboard and then click done.

Click on Add Widget to add widgets to your dashboard and click on more widgets for variety. Click on connect boards to add your data source. I chose the chart widget and my Project Balkans boards to create this outcome.

To have a full experience of your widget, click on the three dots to either duplicate, rename, export, delete, dock or see this widget on a full screen. More than one board and widget can be added to your dashboard.

3. Templates

Monday has customisable templates ranging from a lot of categories including Design, HR, Software Development, and Startup.

How It Works

On your dashboard, click on the + icon in front of the search bar under Main Workspace and click on choose from templates. Pick any template from any of the categories. I chose New Form in the Content Production category. Go through the description and click on Use Template.   

 You make necessary edits to your chosen template and preview. When you hit the Publish button, you can share via the link and across social media. In the results section, you have the summary of your responses after it’s been published.

The automate section lets you streamline the work without you doing anything. On your picked template dashboard, there are sections where you can view your responses and results.

4. Views

This feature lets you see your projects and tasks in different visual views or orientations.

How It Works

Select any of your boards/projects/tasks. I chose Project Balkans and click on the + button beside Main Table and select any board view. Click on the More views to access a plethora of views.

5. Scheduling

Monday has an inbuilt calendar that helps you plan, organise and also track your workflow.

6. Workspaces

This feature helps you level up your workflow and also offers templates for your work management.

How It Works

On your dashboard, click on Main Workspace and click on Add workspace. Name your workspace, select a privacy mode and click on Add workspace. The closed privacy setting is only available for enterprises only.

To invite teammates, click on Members. Click on add from templates to add new boards to your templates.

7. Integration

You are able to add and connect needed and necessary apps and tools.

How It Works

Click on the puzzle sign at the top of the dashboard. Select any app from the categories and you can select apps from various sections.

Select any app – I chose Easyform under Marketing) and click on Add to your account.
